The Temple of San Francisco, a baroque jewel, is one of the most important in the city, both artistically and historically. In 1588 the Franciscans founded the house and chapel where the University is today, but later moved to this place, to raise their convent and church in 1591. The final construction was realized in 1689-1692, the tower was completed in 1709 and was renovated in 1779, the main entrance was completed in 1711-1712, and the tower girl in 1762.

The facade is baroque quarry. The first body has two pairs of Doric columns on each side and two niches: on the left, St. Bonaventure, and on the right, San Antonio. The second body has four spirals and San Francisco columns in the niche. (source)

Just over the hills from me, I’m San Juan de los Lagos, been told I should go see San Luis Potosi. However, while churches are beautifully build, I’m not into chasing around the world for them. Thank you for the wonderful views… Creative shooting!
