JASON HUMBRACHT | JHUMBRACHTPHOTOGRAPHY

My name is Jason Humbracht and I am a professional photographer living in the metro Detroit area. I was born and raised in Ionia, Michigan. After graduating with a Biology & Chemistry degree from Alma College, I moved to California and then Hawaii. Since then I’ve lived numerous places, trying to experience what everyday life is like in other parts of the world.

In 2018 I moved back to Michigan, this time to the East side of the state. I’m currently the staff photographer for a large real estate company with over 100 agents. I’m very grateful that I’m able to continue selling images from my website and I’m always looking for a unique shot.

I love to travel, and I’ve visited much of the United States, as well as most of Eastern Europe, Greece, Italy, Ireland, Amsterdam, and Cuba, to name a few. In 2015 I packed up my Jeep Wrangler and moved to the jungles of Belize. Driving through the U.S. and Mexico to get there. It was a once in a lifetime experience, and helped shape me into the man I am today.

I spent the first three months of 2018 traveling solo throughout Southeast Asia. I started on assignment at the Grace Girls School in Trincomalee, Sri Lanka. Then continued through Thailand, Laos, and Cambodia. Also in 2018 I was able to go to Ireland for a second time, as well as traveling to Australia for the first time.

I tell you of my travels to help you understand my motivation. This planet we live on is filled with beautiful destinations and interesting people, and I want to see them all. And I want to make photographs while there.

Visiting other countries and experiencing their cultures has helped me grow as a person in numerous ways. I believe my photography has seen some of the most growth, and I really try to tell a story with my images.

My photographs have been published dozens of times. The most memorable image, “Christmas at Campus Martius Park,” was one of the first images I ever sold. It was purchased by the State of Michigan for use in their Pure Michigan Ad Campaign, and is still on display in the Customs area at the Detroit International Airport.

I have worked with the Belle Isle Conservancy in Detroit to help protect, preserve, restore and enhance the natural environment, historic structures, and unique character of Belle Isle as a public park. I also have two book covers to my credit.

My passion is architectural and travel photography, cityscapes, landscapes, and nightscapes. However I will photograph almost anything that strikes me. Nearly all of my posted photos are available for purchase or can be licensed for personal or commercial use.

My “No Fans in the Stands” image (pictured left) is one of my most iconic images. It shows the Detroit Tigers playing their first home game at Comerica Park during the Covid-19 lockdown. The players are on the field, and there is nobody else anywhere. Not in the stands, on the streets, nowhere.
