It was probably the hottest day since we have been in Belize, and we took a trip to Clarissa Falls about 5 miles outside of San Ignacio. Facing our fear of the unknown creatures lurking beneath the water, we dove in the Mopan River a bit down river from the small series of falls. We survived! Later we asked a groundskeeper if there was anything dangerous in the river and he said, “Just the sardines.” Silly gringoes…
As we were leaving, thunder rolled in the distance and the top was down on the Jeep. We were about a mile from home when the rains came, and we laughed along with the onlookers while getting a refreshing soak from Mother Nature. It didn’t last long and I took advantage of the always beautiful after storm sunset alongside the highway.
